BISF Historical Documents Series 4th May 1944 Tate Modern

In this series of posts we take a look at a selection of historical documents outlining the development and construction of the British Iron & Steel Federation, Steel Framed House.
We currently hold thousands of archive items that have each been photographed and in some cases converted to text form for easier searching. This conversion method is an on-going process that will take several months to complete however we hope that you will find these never before published documents to be as fascinating as we have found them to be.

Dear Sir,
POST-WAR HOUSING TECHNICAL SUB-COMMITTEE
A meeting of the above Committee will be held at Steel House on Thursday, 18th May, at 10.30 a.m., at which it is hoped you will be present.
The meeting is being held to report progress on Type “A”and Typo “B” houses and also to discuss future work.
It is hoped that arrangements will be made for the Committee to inspect privately the temporary “Churchill” house at the Tate Gallery and also, in the afternoon, to inspect the prototype of the “A” house temporarily erected at the builder’s yard at Norbury.
Should it be possible to make these arrangement s , luncheon will be provided.
Yours faithfully,
pp. T Stevenson
