When is a BISF House Not A BISF House?

We have received a large number of e-mails recently from readers asking if a house they have seen is a BISF house or not.

Many of the images that we have been sent do indeed show buildings that look remarkably similar to the BISF Houses that we know so well. Many have undergone external renovation which has made identification more difficult and in some cases even councils who own the properties have been unable to tell us what the construction type is.

We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to list a selection of non-traditional house types for you, so that it may make identification just a little bit easier.

Take a look at the gallery below.

  1. The Riley house was built with a thicker portion of central window frame in the large windows but many of these have since been replaced.
In fact from an exterior view both properties can be very difficult to distinguish.
    Can you tell the difference?

  2. Two of these houses in particular are very difficult to tell apart and are often wrongly described as BISF Houses by the public, owners and even estate agents. The house in question are variations of Spooner and Riley houses, which especially when renovated look remarkably similar to BISF Houses.
The first image here is the Spooner House in both its original and modern refurbished form.
