BISF Refurbishment

Sykes Specialist Contracting Ltd has just completed the installation of the Alumasc Swisspan System to 30 BISF Houses at South Tyneside. The contract was completed in three weeks and from a delayed start due to a change in design the contract was delivered to programme at the agreed cost.

BISF (British Institute of Steel Federation) Houses required a thermal upgrade and the existing cladding had to be replaced. The first floor cladding was replaced with a similar product, however the insulation was upgraded. On the ground floor the existing eternity panel was removed and replaced with the Alumasc Swisspan System of External Wall Insulation. The Swisspan system was ideally suited to the scheme as the system comprises of steel sections laid horizontally along the elevations which are securely fixed back to the structure. Insulation is fixed in between the rails and subsequently rendered with the Alumasc polymer scrim and base coat and finished with the Alumasc Silicone render.
