Kitchen Extension Questions & Internal Wall Removal

Kitchen Extension – A few questions from a new member.
This is a Member submitted Post
Hi all, just joined the BISF community and I have a couple of questions if anyone can help?
1) I have recently bought a steel built house, none of my documents say what type it is but I’m 90% sure it’s a BISF built house based age and layout but how would I go about finding for sure?
2) Assuming that my house is a BISF house, the previous owners had a brick built extension built onto the side of the kitchen as a large utility room and simply removed the door from the frame as access between the room. We would like to knock the wall through so that we have a large L shaped kitchen Extension but it will be an external wall, I’m guessing with various supporting struts?
Does anyone know if this can be done and if anyone has any advice or tips to do this.
I can supply pictures to help illustrate and our house is in Hainault Essex if anyone knows any good builders to recommend.

This image above is the layout of my house which is why I believe its BISF
The image below shows the wall I’d like to knock out, side kitchen wall (same side as stairs), so would like to remove as much of the wall as possible to open up kitchen?
Many Thanks,
Stuart
